Havana, January 18 (RHC) The Tigres del Licey got closer to the Dominican Baseball League crown on Tuesday by defeating the Estrellas Orientales with a 3-1 score in the fourth game of the grand final.
It was a game in which the felines took the lead in the very first episode thanks to a home run by Colombian Jorge Alfaro, who has been unstoppable in this playoff.
Subsequently, the winners scored one run in the fourth and fifth episodes which was enough to take the victory, as their rivals could only score in the fifth when Lewin Díaz connected a double with Robinson Canó on second.
The winners had five hits to their opponents' six, but the Easterners committed four errors, a very high number for this level.
The game was won by Brooks Hall (1-0) and Edwin Uceta took the loss. Jairo Asencio had a save.
With this result, Licey takes the lead in the final with three games won and one lost, so a full house is expected for today's game at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium as the Blues can be crowned winners.
