The president of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), Mohammed Jalood, arrives in Cuba today on an official working visit.

Havana, January 22 (RHC)-- The president of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), Mohammed Jalood, arrives in Cuba today on an official working visit.

According to a report by Jit, a media outlet affiliated to the National Sports Institute of the Caribbean nation, the leader will be "accompanied by Antonio Urso, secretary general and treasurer of the IWF, and Jose Carlos Quiñones, president of the Pan American Weightlifting Federation".

The work agenda includes dialogues with the main authorities of Cuban sport. Among the places to be visited are the Anti-Doping Laboratory in Havana, the Manuel Suárez gymnasium of the Cerro Pelado high performance athlete training school and the Che Guevara Center, the note adds.

Jalood was elected president of the world governing body of weightlifting last June, and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee.

As soon as he took office he stressed that "there is a renewed energy within our organization, I have already had the opportunity to discuss with my team that is ready to get to work and start delivering good things for our sport.

We are focused on the future of weightlifting, emphasized the Iraqi federation, before explaining that he intends to carry out "a renewal and a change within the organization". (Source: Prensa Latina)
