Parapan American Youth Games
Havana, June 10 (RHC) --The first group of the Cuban delegation to the V Parapan American Youth Games of Bogota 2023 returned to the capital early this morning, led by gold medalists in parathletics.
According to a report by the digital newspaper jit, the delegation with representatives of para-athletics, para-judo, table paratenis and golbol was received at the José Martí International Airport by the first vice-president of the Cuban Sports Institute (Inder), Raúl Fornés, and the multi Paralympic champion and member of the Council of State, Omara Durand.
The athletes were led by Parathletics gold medalists Yankiel Sol, Felipa Hechavarría, Géiser Matos and Pedro Urgellés.
On their behalf, Sol, world record holder in the long jump, commented that they competed with discipline and dedication at all times.
We are grateful for the opportunity to have attended these Games, in which we did everything possible to improve our results and we fulfilled the motto of the delegation: More challenges, more commitments, added the also Paralympic gold medalist for Tokyo 2020.
The Paraparamerican Youth Games in Bogota continue until June 12, with the participation of some 800 paratriathletes from 20 nations. (Source:PL)
