Havana, October 5 (RHC) - After Thursday's break, the Cuban men's volleyball team will face host Brazil this Friday at the Pre-Olympic in Rio de Janeiro, in a vital match to keep dreaming of the Paris-2024 Olympic Games.
The Cubans got their third win on Wednesday by sweeping Qatar in three sets to keep alive their aspirations in Group A, with a 3-1 record, only behind Germany (4-0).
Facing one of the lowest level opponents in their group, the Caribbean team defeated Qatar 25-21, 25-21 and 25-16, and now have nine points.
Jesús Cruz's students had in their offense their main strength with 43 units, in addition to seven aces.
In the individual order, Miguel Angel Lopez led the scorers with 12 points, seconded by Javier Concepcion (9) and Jesus Herrera (7).
In Group A, Czech Republic defeated Iran 3-1, and Germany defeated world champion Italy also in 4 sets, to consolidate their position at the top.
