Havana, October 11 (EFE) -- The World Baseball and Softball Confederation is looking forward with much optimism to the inclusion of its sports in the program of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games (LA28), which is to be decided on Oct. 16 in Mumbai, India.
"The WBSC is extremely pleased that men's baseball and women's softball are included in the list of sports proposed for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games," the entity expressed through its website.
"The inclusion of baseball and softball is a testament to the global appeal of our sports, made possible through continued collaboration with our key stakeholders, including professional leagues around the world. We are confident that both will be a huge hit with fans in the U.S. and globally," he added.
The additional sports proposal for Los Angeles 2028 will be reviewed and presented by the IOC Executive Board for ratification at the body's 141st session, scheduled to take place in Mumbai on October 16, 2023.
Baseball was part of the Olympic program between Barcelona 1992 and Beijing 2008. It was then included as an additional event in Tokyo 2020.
