Havana, March 13 (ACN) - Pinar del Rio and Ciego de Avila remained as the only undefeated teams in the recently started 63rd National Baseball Series, at the beginning of the second particular sub-series.
Both teams, Pinar and Ciego, are 3-0 and are at the top of the 16 competing teams.
The Vegueros defeated Industriales 6x2 at the Latin American Stadium, with an offensive highlight for former major league player Alexei Ramírez, who hit 5-2 with a homerun and three runs.
Alexei has started the series with an overflowing offense and already has seven hits in three games, including a home run and three RBIs.
Pinar's victory went to left-handed reliever Luis Mario del Hoyo, who barely got one out.
The Tigres avileños overcame Holguín 6x1, with an excellent start by Kevin Soto, who only allowed two singles in 5.2 innings and achieved the victory. Rubén Valdés hit 4-2 with a tow for the Avileña cause.
The monarch exponent Las Tunas defeated Guantánamo 7x6, supported by the batting of Yosvani Alarcón, 4-3 with a homerun and two runs batted in.
Santiago de Cuba defeated Granma 7x2 with a smile on the face of the incombustible Olympic champion right-hander Danny Betancourt and Reinier Castillo, who hit 4-2 with a double, home run and four runs batted in.
There was also a knockout for Artemisa against Isla de la Juventud (13x2) with a powerful attack by outfielder Carlos de la Tejera, who hit two home runs and drove in six runs.
In the other results, Matanzas defeated Cienfuegos 4x3, Mayabeque broke Sancti Spíritus' undefeated record (5x0) and Villa Clara achieved its first success in the league, against Camagüey (8x4).
