Havana, March 13 (RHC).- Star Robertlandy Simón equaled the record for most blocks by a player in a playoff match of the Italian volleyball Super League, the best in the world.
With 9 of his 17 points from blocking, the Cuban led his team, Piacenza, to a four-set win over Milan to even the quarterfinal series between the two to one win apiece.
In addition to Simon, 4 other players reached 9 units for blocks in Superliga playoff matches.

The first of them was Australian Daniel Allen Howard on April 1, 2001, followed by Pasquale Gravina (Italy), German Stefan Hubner, and twice by Brazilian Gustavo Endres.
The world record in blocks in professional volleyball belongs since December 9, 2023 to Central Nicoló Katalán, from Podernone, who achieved 14 blocks in a match against Castellana Grotte, in Italy's second division, according to the Cubatel portal.

In Italy's Serie A-1, in the Superliga, the record in a regular season belongs to Francesco Fortunato, who on March 17, 2010 scored 12 blocked shots for Cuneo.
