Havana, May 27 (RHC) - Cuba's Laurent Estrada improved her country's record in the 100 backstroke at the first stop of the Mare Nostrum Swimming circuit, based in Canet (France).

Estrada set a time of 1:03.33 min, to surpass the previous lead (1:03.70), which was held by Andrea Becali.

In the 200 backstroke, Estrada also stood out by breaking his personal record with 2.18.68, advancing to the B final of the prestigious competition, in which she placed fourth to achieve 12th place overall.

With that time she approached 2:16.70, one of the oldest Cuban primaries in swimming, held by Ana María González since the Pan American Games in Winnipeg-99.

Estrada and two other Cuban swimmers - Andrea Becali and Rodolfo Falcón jr. – compete on the Mare Nostrum circuit. They will now compete in Barcelona, Spain, at the second stop on the circuit, on May 29 and 30.
