Havana, May 31 (RHC).- The Cuban beach volleyball duo of Noslen Díaz/Jorge Luis Alayo debuted with a 2-0 victory against the Swiss team of Krattiger/Breer in the Challenge Stare Jablonki, (Poland) and reduced the difference in the ranking for Paris-2024.

The victory of the Cubans this Friday was achieved with partial scores of 21-19 and 21-17, in their last participation of the season in a World Beach Volleyball ProTour competition.

With the victory, Francisco Alvarez Cutiño's students achieved valuable points for the Olympic ranking, in which they compete for the last place for Paris-2024 with the pairs of Chile and Austria.

The triumph of the Cubans (19th place in the ranking with 7,040 points), was combined with defeats of the pairs of Chile (Grimalt cousins) and Austria (Horl and Horst), their rivals in the fight for the last Olympic quota according to the ranking.

The Chileans fell 2-0 against the French Krou and Gauthier, and the Austrians against the Spanish Herrera and Gaviria with the same score.

Now the pairs of Chile (17th place in the world with 7260 points) and Austria (18th with 7260) will face each other in their second presentations and the one that wins remains in competition and the loser is eliminated and will leave the Polish tournament without points.

The Cubans will compete with the Australian duo of Hodges and Schubert in their second presentation.

If they do not achieve their Olympic qualification by ranking, the Cubans will have their last opportunity to be in Paris if they win the Norceca Pre-Olympic, scheduled for June 19 to 24 in Mexico.
