Caracas, Apr 5 (RHC), – Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, on Friday approved government resources for the implementation of 70 different projects for agricultural and rural development in different states of the South American country. The approved development plan also includes programs designed to promote better education, housing, culture, health, public transport and infrastructure in under-developed communities.

The comprehensive development plan was closely examined and approved by the Venezuelan President during a meeting on Friday with his cabinet, as well as governors and mayors from different communities throughout the country.

The Venezuelan president took advantage of the meeting to denounce recent attacks on the Central university of Venezuela and its students, calling on the competent authorities to launch an investigation into the violent events, perpetrated on Thursday by groups linked to the far-right opposition.

Maduro also reiterated his administration's willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue with the opposition in a bid to find a peaceful solution to weeks of violent political unrest in the country.

Meanwhile, violent anti-government protests continued on Friday night in Caracas, where protesters rallied through several streets of the city to show support for opposition leader, Leopoldo Lopez, recently charged by Venezuelan authorities with inciting violence in the country.

Venezuela is the scene of violent anti-government protests since mid-February. The protests, organized by U.S.-backed hardline opposition sectors, who seek to destabilize and ultimately overthrow the legitimate government of President Maduro.
