Caracas, May 11 (RHC)-- Venezuelan State Security Forces captured eight more mercenaries who participated in the armed maritime incursion last May 3rd with the intention of carrying out a coup d'état and assassinating President Nicolás Maduro Moros.
The mercenaries were captured in the mountainous area of Petaquirito, some 50 kilometers from Caracas. Among those apprehended by the authorities is the nephew of the former general and coup plotter, Clíver Alcalá Cordones.
The authorities have captured 14 mercenaries in the last 24 hours. Earlier Sunday the morning, the Special Security Forces (FAES) arrested three individuals involved in the failed armed incursion that took place on May 3rd in Colonia Tovar, Aragua state.
Those detained by the FAES were identified as First Lieutenant Jairo Betemy, Second Army Sergeant Franco Jonathan and First Sergeant of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) Evan Rincón, who are now in the custody of the corresponding authorities.
So far, 28 mercenaries have been captured (including the eight from the mountainous area of Petaquirito and the two U.S. ex-Green Berets) who tried to destabilize the Venezuelan nation.
