Quito, February 10 (RHC)-- The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador reports on its official website that the candidate for the political alliance CREO, Guillermo Lasso -- after obtaining 19.66 percent of the votes counted -- is slightly ahead of the representative of the Plurinational Unity Movement Pachakutik, Yaku Perez, who at the moment has 19.61 percent.
Thus, although these are not the final results, the candidate for the CREO political alliance is positioned in second place in the general elections held last Sunday, February 7th. The candidate who obtains the highest number of votes will face the representative of the Unión por la Esperanza (UNES) Andres Arauz in a run-off election on April 11th. Arauz garnered 32.44 percent of the votes counted in the first round.
