Caracas, February 22 (RHC)-- The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, repudiated on Monday the more than 450 unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union on his country, which he described as illegal and attributed to them the provocation of a humanitarian crisis in a malicious and premeditated manner.
"We face a multidimensional economic aggression, which has ignored the calls of the United Nations and the Venezuelan people to stop these actions in times of pandemic," he said, speaking at the high-level segment of the 46th Session of the Security Council of the United Nations.
During his comments, the Venezuelan head of state also indicated that the challenges faced by the world due to the coronavirus demand a greater commitment from world leaders to build a better destiny.
Maduro pointed out that his country has managed to mitigate and control the pandemic "thanks to a quality public health social policy, the implementation of biosecurity methodologies and the application of complementary scientific treatments."
The Bolivarian leader that in spite of the international blockade and the sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies, his government has made efforts to guarantee the welfare of the Venezuelan people.
"The imposition of more than 450 unilateral and illegal coercive measures have resulted in a blockade and persecution against the capacities of the Venezuelan State and society."
In this sense, Nicolas Maduro denounced that his country has been deprived of at least 30 billion dollars that could have been used for the care of Venezuelans.
