Caracas, July 3 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan Government reports that, despite the criminal blockade against the country, it is making profound progress in the Mass Vaccination Plan against COVID-19.

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, who inspected the Red Cross Immunization Center in Parque Miranda, in the state of Miranda, stressed that despite the shortage of vaccines and the blockade against Venezuela, it has been possible to guarantee the vaccines to the people.  She assured that progress is being made in Phase II, which will soon enter Phase III of the Mass Vaccination Plan.

Delcy Rodríguez, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, thanked the Venezuelan Red Cross and the International Red Cross for their collaboration in this immunization process against the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

"We came to visit this tent in Parque Miranda, where the Red Cross is running one of the vaccination points and we are reviewing every part of the Immunization process of the Venezuelan people," she said, adding that the relief agency has joined in 13 states of the South American country.

"With a lot of organization, they are demonstrating that Venezuela is advancing in the process of protecting the health of Venezuelans", said the Vice-President.

The vaccination campaign against COVID-19 began in Venezuela last February.  At present, the doses of Sinopharm (Chinese), Sputnik V (Russian) and Abdala (Cuban) are being administered.  To date, the South American country has accumulated a total of 275,205 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 256,481 people recovered, which represents 93 percent of the infections.  It has also recorded 3,154 deaths due to the coronavirus.
