Another massacre in the municipality of Alcala, located in the Colombian department of Valle del Cauca (Southwest).

Bogota, July 13 (RHC)-- The Institute for Higher Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz) denounced a massacre in the municipality of Alcala, located in the Colombian department of Valle del Cauca (Southwest).

According to Indepaz, armed men attacked a group of people in an area known as Piedras de Moler, in the event three people died among them a minor of only six years old, "the other two men were identified as Wilmar Antonio Mejía Morales and Wilder Salazar Nieto."

"The mother of the murdered minor, the uncle and two other people were injured, and were taken to the San Juan de Dios hospital," details the Indepaz report.

The Institute warns that in the last weeks there have been armed confrontations in Alcalá and Cartago between gangs over territorial disputes, in the areas where the Autodefensas Gaitanistas de Colombia (AGC), the gang of Los Flacos, Los Cofla and the National Liberation Army (ELN) are present.

In addition to the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Colombians continue to suffer from violence. Indepaz reports that 52 massacres have been perpetrated so far this year and 90 social leaders have been murdered.
