Managua, July 19 (RHC)-- Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, in commemoration of the 42nd anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution, recalled on Monday the struggle of General Augusto Sandino for the sovereignty and self-determination of the Central American nation.
The Nicaraguan leader recalled the women who were the vanguard of the Revolution. "I feel that I am filled with the energy of General Sandino (...) women never backed down in the struggle against hegemony nor surrendered. They defended the Homeland," he said.
Faced with the constant attacks of Washington against Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega said that the nation continues to fight, "despite the attempts of the empire to destroy us here we are standing and moving forward (...) our economy continues to grow amid the blows of imperialism," he said.
"Since Nicaragua exists, they imposed (alluding to the U.S.) treaties so that the country would not sign any agreement. They gave themselves the right over our territory to tell the Europeans that they could not enter Nicaragua", denounced the president.
The Nicaraguan leader recalled that despite the coup attempts and illegal economic, financial and commercial sanctions, the country continues with its development. "Despite the pandemic, here in Nicaragua we have a tendency of the economy to be more stable every day," he added.
"They have laundered dollars to sow terrorism in Nicaragua, investigations are being carried out against the famous Non-Governmental Organizations", emphasized President Ortega.
The president reminded the U.S. government that the time as hegemon of the world is over. "They don't fully understand that their moment of hegemony is over. Now people all over the world are fighting for their sovereignty."
