Electoral campaigns close in Venezuela for Sunday's elections

Caracas, November 19 (RHC)-- Venezuela's political organizations mobilized this Thursday to carry out the respective electoral campaign closings of their candidates, in view of the regional and municipal elections of Sunday, November 21st.

The president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Pedro Calzadilla, reiterated on Wednesday that the more than 70,000 candidates for the 3,082 public offices could present their electoral offer until 12 midnight of this November 18th, according to the established schedule.

More than 21 million Venezuelans are summoned to go to the polls to vote for 23 governors, 335 mayors, 253 legislators and 2,471 councilmen.

For his part, President Nicolás Maduro, on his Twitter account, congratulated the political parties of the Simón Bolívar Great Patriotic Pole, made up by the groups that support the Bolivarian Revolution, as well as the opposition organizations of the country.

He also highlighted "the democratic spirit of the Venezuelan people.  This November 21st, we are voting for peace and the sovereignty of the homeland."

The candidates of the Great Patriotic Pole toured several states of the country to close the campaign together with their members

One of them was the candidate for Mayor of Caracas (capital city), Carmen Meléndez, who expressed on her social networks: "My commitment with Caracas is immense, and my life is and will always be with the people, to serve them and give them solutions to their problems."

Likewise, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) asserted:  "We are organized and ready to win.  The victory belongs to the people and next November 21st, the candidates of (Hugo) Chávez will win."

The candidate for reelection for the State of Miranda, Héctor Rodríguez, expressed through his account on the social network Twitter:  "Together we faced the biggest storms, and now that good times are coming, we will consolidate a victory for life, peace, the future and the wellbeing of all families."
