Caracas, December 3 (RHC)-- The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Sacha Llorenti, has strongly criticized statements made by Josep Borrell, the European Union's high representative for Foreign Affairs.

On his Twitter account, the Bolivian politician pointed out that Borrell made an unfortunate, wrong and dangerous analogy when referring to "discoverers and conquerors."  There was no "discovery" and those conquerors are synonymous with invasion, genocide, looting and colonialism, Llorenti asserted.

In a video accompanying the message, the head of European diplomacy said that we are living in a perfect storm, and to navigate in this storm neither the routes nor the maps of the past are of any use to us.

Like the "discoverers and conquerors," we have to invent a New World, Borrell said, and called for a recalibration of our strategic compass with full historical awareness to understand the magnitude of the changes we are facing.
