San Juan, July 2 (RHC)--The governor of Puerto Rico, Pedro Pierluisi, has announced the call for a new referendum on the political status of the island that will take place on November 5, coinciding with the general elections.  The information was shared through his official account on the X social network.

This new referendum poses a crucial step on the path toward resolving the political status of Puerto Rico, an issue that has generated debate and discussion for decades.

In his statements, Pierluisi highlighted the importance of Puerto Rico continuing to exert pressure and reiterate its right to self-determination to be a free country that does not obey the federal laws of the United States.

"Puerto Rico has the right, and I would say the moral obligation, to demand that Congress respond satisfactorily to the will of our people," he said in the statement.  "Therefore, as many times as it is necessary to vote to end the colony, we will do so," he emphasized.
