United Nations, December 12 (RHC)-- Once again, the violent Zionist genocide in the Gaza Strip has brought Israel back into the world's spotlight, this time due to the large number of 193 journalists who have died at the hands of the Israeli army in Gaza.

On Wednesday, the Palestinian Media Forum expressed its deep sadness over the death of Iman Hatem Al-Shanti, a prominent broadcaster for Sawt Al-Aqsa Radio, who died after an attack targeted her family home in Gaza City.

Iman Hatem Al-Shanti was a courageous voice who conveyed to the world the suffering and resistance of her people in the face of Israel's oppression.

The Forum's statement stressed that her death was the result of an Israeli bombing, which reflects a “treacherous strategy to silence public opinion” on the road to what they describe as “freedom, paved with blood and sacrifice.”

The Palestinian Media Forum strongly condemned the international silence surrounding these crimes and the lack of effective action to protect Palestinian journalists who risk their lives to carry out their reporting work to bring the truth about the Zionist genocide in Gaza.

“It is unacceptable that journalists cannot carry out their work in accordance with international laws and humanitarian conventions,” the statement said.

The situation for the press is no better in Lebanon, where six journalists have been killed while carrying out their reporting duties, four of them belonging to the pan-Arab network Al Mayadeen.

This pattern of violence poses a serious threat to press freedom in the region, where Israel uses its armed wing to silence those who denounce the genocidal doctrine of the “people of God.”

At this time, the safety of journalists who expose Zionist violence is essential to ensure the protection of the human rights of civilians suffering under the yoke of Israel and its allies.

The Palestinian Media Forum urgently called on the international community to take concrete measures to protect journalists in Gaza and Lebanon and to investigate these heinous crimes.
