Caracas, December 13 (RHC)-- The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, affirmed that the far-right opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia is violating the agreement he signed before leaving the country on September 7th.
Speaking in the communal assembly with the candidates for Justices of the Peace in Caracas, the Venezuelan president denounced that González continues to call for a civil war in Venezuela, from Spain.
“You are violating the right of asylum in Spain. Stop calling for a civil war in Venezuela,” he emphasized. The president warned Eduardo González to be careful with what he says from Europe about Venezuela, because there will not be war in the country.
“In Venezuela, there will be peace and people mobilized in the streets; peace and a constitution; peace and national unity,” he stressed. He also sent a message to the fascists, whom he warned: “Do not make a mistake.” “They will regret it for 100 years, because it is very easy to invite war from a bar in Madrid,” he said.
Venezuela is preparing to take a significant step on Sunday, December 15th, when the Justices of the Peace will be elected, with the purpose of strengthening popular organization through the communes.
According to the head of state, 5,297 communal circuits were organized for this process, of which 436 are from indigenous peoples, who will elect their justices of the peace using their own methods.
Likewise, on January 10th, the president will be sworn in as president-elect of Venezuela for the period 2025-2031, amid threats from Venezuelan far-right groups to call for a civil war in the country.
One of the figures who has called for acts of violence in the nation is Edmundo González, former presidential candidate in the last elections, who left for Spain after requesting political asylum from the government of that nation and was granted it after conversations between both governments.
From Madrid, Gonzalez says that he will hold his own inauguration on January 10th, even though the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela certified the victory of Nicolás Maduro in the elections of July 28th, after launching an investigation regarding the contentious appeal filed by the president.
