Madrid, February 23 (RHC)-- Nearly one thousand people divided into two rallies demonstrated in Madrid this Saturday, to demand a just and definitive peace in Gaza.  "We celebrate the truce, but we will not give up on permanent peace or the existence of the two states," the participants stressed.

The Solidarity Network Against the Occupation of Palestine displayed a large Palestinian flag and chanted slogans such as “Palestine is not for sale, Palestine is for defense.”

On the other hand, in the Juan Goytisolo square in Madrid, the initiative PararLaGuerra.es has gathered hundreds of people under the slogan “For a just peace, free Palestine, definitive ceasefire, no terrorism or genocide."

In the call for the demonstration, the organizers stated that “it is not possible to leave the population of Gaza in the hands of the intervention of the USA, the true responsible for the massacre, genocide and apartheid and the co-responsible Israeli Government, which has its president, Netanyahu, summoned by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity and genocide”.

Following this line, the movement demands “a reconstruction process in which the Gazan people are the protagonists and supervisors, guarded by an international community that guarantees the legitimate Palestinian rights recognized in international law.”
