Nassau, October 31 (RHC-EFE) -- Bahamas' Health Ministry said Thursday that an ill passenger who had arrived on a charter flight from Tennessee was transported to a designated location due to fears that the individual's vomiting and diarrhea were symptoms of the Ebola virus.

The National Ebola Preparedness Protocol was activated to ensure a medical team evaluated the patient to rule out or confirm suspicions of an Ebola case, which would have been the country's first, the ministry said in a bulletin.

It was determined that the patient had not been in an Ebola-affected area and had not had any contact with anyone who had traveled to a place with confirmed cases of the deadly virus, the ministry added.

The Bahamian government also confirmed that no other passengers on board the same flight presented similar symptoms and therefore, the aircraft was cleared to proceed to its destination.

Bahamas has not implemented any travel ban on passengers from Ebola-stricken countries such as Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.
