Tel Aviv, April 15 (RHC)-- Palestinian resistance fighters have killed at least one Israeli soldier and wounded several others during separate retaliatory operations in Gaza City and the southern side of the besieged coastal sliver, according to reports.
As a result of a complex operation by the fighters on Monday, four Israeli troops sustained injuries when they were trapped inside a house in Shuja'iyya neighborhood east of Gaza City, and repeatedly shot at, Arab and Israeli media outlets reported.
Separately, a number of Israeli soldiers were killed and wounded in the town of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip when Palestinian combatants carried out a surprise operation against them. Hebrew-language news agencies reported that Israeli military helicopters evacuated the casualties.
The al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, also announced in a short statement that one of its snipers had shot an Israeli soldier who had taken a position in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood of Gaza City.
The retaliatory operations come as the Israeli military has intensifies its land and air attacks on Gaza, with artillery and air raids hitting several areas of Khan Younis in the south.
The Israeli military launched a surprise aerial campaign on the Gaza Strip on March 18th, killing at least 1,613 Palestinians, injuring 4,233 others, and shattering the ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian group Hamas and the deal on the exchange of Israeli captives from Palestinian prisoners.
According to the Health Ministry in Gaza, at least 50,983 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 116,274 individuals injured in the brutal Israeli military onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
Hamas has emphasized that it is “approaching any proposals positively if they guarantee a permanent ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, an end to the suffering of our Palestinian people, and a serious prisoner exchange deal.”
