Mexico City, November 24 (teleSUR-RHC)-- In a rally outside the Palace of Fine Arts (Palacio de Bellas Artes) in Mexico City, feminist and woman’s rights organizations denounced the fact that feminine homicides are constant in the country as a whole, and not only in Ciudad Juarez, in Chihuahua state.
Seven women are killed every day in Mexico, say the activists, and in the so-called war on drugs, women are the main victims. According to the Mexican statistical institute INEGI, the total women homicides in 2011 nationwide surpassed 2,693. In some Mexican states, figures are 15 times higher than the global average.
With a huge banner that said: “For thousands of disappeared women in the country, for the 43 disappeared students in Ayotzinapa,” they expressed the fact that homicides of women are one more manifestation of the situation of insecurity and repression that prevails in the country.
