San Jose, March 14 (teleSUR-RHC) Costa Rica's Turrialba volcano erupted four times Thursday. Ash was thrown up to 3,280 feet into the air, schools were canceled and people in a radius of a little over a mile around the volcano were evacuated from the area.
A spokesperson for the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (Obsivori) said, "We have recommended the evacuation of people and small animals as a precaution. The last explosion was very strong."
Volcanologists say that this is the strongest eruption in 20 years.
