Mexico City, April 20 (XINHUA-RHC)-- Mexican police arrested Jesus Salas, leader of a drug cartel, Mexico's National Security Commission confirmed on Sunday.
"Salas, also known as 'El Chuyin,' was arrested in Mexico's northern state of Chihuahua on April 17 during an operation held by the federal forces," said Monte Alejandro Rubido, director of the commission.
Salas, 38, is believed to be head of the Juarez cartel active in Valle de Juarez and the southeastern mountain region of Chihuahua, which borders the drug-producing states of Sinaloa and Durango.
Salas, wanted by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, is accused of drug trafficking, homicide, fuel theft and arms trafficking.
