Sanaa, May 1 (RHC)-- At least eight people have been killed in a Saudi airstrike in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. Two women were among the victims of the Saudi bombardment in the al-Sha'ab neighborhood in the early hours of Friday. A number of people also suffered injuries in the attack.

The Saudi warplanes also pounded the capital's districts of Faj Attan and Hasbah, as well as the al-Marwaneh neighborhood. There have been no immediate reports of casualties in the Saudi airstrikes in these three areas. Hours earlier, the Saudi warplanes fired a number of missiles into the international airport in Sanaa, inflicting serious damage.

The Saudi fighter jets also pounded areas located between the towns of Razeh and Shadda in Yemen’s northwestern province of Sa’ada.

Saudi Arabia launched its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 -- without a United Nations mandate -- in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and to restore power to the country’s fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh.
