Brussels, June 12 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Venezuelan Vice President Jorge Arreaza told European social justice activists during his intervention on Thursday at the closure of the People's Summit in Brussels that the country's right wing sectors had launched an economic war to overthrow the Bolivarian Revolution.
At the People's Event, running parallel with the EU-CELAC Summit and involving over 50 social organizations, Arreaza reminded the audience that the ferocious economic war against the people, launched to undermine stability and overturn the social achievements, "is not new,". The first such assault occurred in 2002, the official recalled, when the federation of national private firms Fedecamaras ordered the closure of businesses to provoke an uprising.
Arreaza also called for solidarity against the executive order of US President Barack Obama
classifying Venezuela as a "threat". “Major communication media should stop lying and cheating,” about developments in Venezuela he said adding that it shouldn't be left to organizations such as teleSUR to tell the truth about Latin America.
The Venezuelan vice president also passed on greetings from President Nicolas Maduro to the summit participants, highlighting this difficult task of “inheriting Hugo Chavez' great legacy with the Bolivarian Revolution, the first revolution of the 21st century.”
