Mexico City, June 20 (teleSUR-RHC)-- At least 10 people have been killed in a bar in Mexico's northern state of Nuevo Leon in an apparent rivalry between local gangs, according to officials.

Gunmen reportedly stormed a beer hall in Garcia, a suburb of the city of Monterrey, in broad daylight and opened fire on those inside.

According to local paramedics, seven people died at the crime scene and three others died later from their injuries while in hospital. Their identities have not yet been released, and the police was still unsure how many of the victims were staff and how many were customers.

One official at the state prosecutor's office told local media, on condition of anonymity, that the assailants had stripped naked the bodies of their victims and left with some $652 (10,000 pesos), what authorities suspect was the motive for the attack.

Attorney Javier Flores Saldivar told reporters that authorities suspect the crime was linked to organized crime gangs, since police found about seven kilos of drugs as well as small arms and scales in the bar. Other local media have suggested that local drug cartel the Zetas was behind the crime, who are known to operate in the area.
