New York, April 15 (RHC)-- Thousands of low-wage U.S. workers marched in New York, Los Angeles and other cities across the United States, calling for minimum pay to rise. Similar demonstrations in dozens of other cities, including Chicago and Miami, drew thousands of workers to the streets.

The protesters, mostly fast-food workers, said their aim is to secure a 15-dollar per hour minimum wage for all Americans, hoping it will lead to better working conditions. The "Fight for $15" campaign has grown since its inception in 2012 and thus far scored some legislative victories in California and New York.

Fast-food workers, who sparked the movement, also demanded union rights and laws preventing what they call wage theft.
