San Francisco, May 4 (RHC)-- Afeni Shakur, a former Black Panther, political activist and mother of late hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur, has died at the age of 69.
Afeni Shakur’s activism was reportedly a source of inspiration for her son’s music. Tupac Shakur was killed in a still-unsolved drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996.
Following his death, Afeni established the Georgia-based Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, which provides art programs for young people.
Afeni Shakur died in the San Francisco Bay Area of California after suffering what was believed to be a heart attack.
