Havana, September 20 (RHC)-- On Monday, Cuba and Japan signed an agreement here in Havana to reschedule the Caribbean country's medium and long-term debt with the Asian nation, as part of the implementation process of the Multilateral agreement between Cuba and the Paris Club Ad-hoc Group of creditors.
Granma newspaper reported that the document was signed during a meeting between official delegations from the two countries, presided over on the Japanese side by the country's Ambassador to Cuba, Maseru Watanabe and on the Cuban side by Vice President and Minister of Economy and Planning, Ricardo Cabrisas.
According to Granma, with this latest agreement Cuba has fully rescheduled its debt with 13 out of the 14 members of the Ad Hoc Group, opening up new opportunities to secure financing for future economic and social development projects on the island.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized the positive state of bilateral relations and highlighted opportunities to strengthen ties in the spheres of economy, trade, investment, and cooperation.
