Cuban and British Entrepreneurs Explore Business Opportunities

Matanzas, January 14 (RHC)-- Cuba and British entrepreneurs are currently considering opportunities to strengthen economic and commercial ties particularly in the areas of energy, agriculture, tourism and the industrial sector.

A joint business forum is taking place at Havana’s Hotel Nacional until tomorrow, January 15th. Participants from the two countries are assessing the potential of several economic sectors not the least the opportunities being offered by the Mariel Harbor Special Economic Zone.

The update of Cuban economy and new and prioritized development areas, including renewable energy, biotechnology and the industry in general will be presented at the forum by local authorities. High on the agenda is an exhibition illustrating the production, storage and commercialization of potatoes, which is a staple on the island.

Brian Wilson, business ambassador with the UK Trade and Investment Office and Odaly Seijo, acting president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce are jointly chairing the forum.

Combined British-Cuban projects for 2015 include the setting up of a power plant based on sugar cane baggasse and marabu wood, with Havana Energy Limited and Zerus S.A. a society with the Cuban Azcuba group.
