Havana, November 19 (RHC) -- The Universidad de Oriente, in Santiago de Cuba, will award the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in Architecture to historian Eusebio Leal Spengler, in recognition of his extensive work as a defender of national identity and creator of the safeguard of the heritage and historical memory of the Cuban people.

In a solemn ceremony, to be held next Thursday in the Aula Magna of the San Gerónimo University College in Havana, the intellectual will receive the distinction based on a proposal from the Faculty of Construction of the Eastern Alma Mater in the presence of political, governmental, academic and cultural authorities.

Eusebio Leal is widely recognized for his work as director of the Office of the Historian of Havana, while chairing the Network of Offices of the Historian and Curator of the Patrimonial Cities of Cuba.
