Mexico City, January 16 (RHC)-- Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto will pay a state visit to Cuba on January 28th and 29th, according to the Mexican Ministry of the Interior.

An official communique issued in Mexico City says Peña Nieto is slated to meet with his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro, and will attend the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), to be held in Havana on those dates.

In their meeting, the two heads of state will review the status of bilateral relations as well as issues related to regional integration and trade.

The statement adds that Peña Nieto's participation in the summit will reinforce his government's commitment to CELAC, as well as reaffirm the importance of Latin America and the Caribbean in Mexican foreign policy.
