Piura, April 5 (RHC)-- The Governor of the Peruvian Department of Piura, Reynaldo Hilbck and Mayor Juan Francisco Cieza of the city of Catacaos, have expressed their gratitude to Cuba for the work being carried out by the medical contingent, members of the Henry Reeve Medical Brigade, who are offering their services to victims of heavy rains and severe floods in northern Peru.
During an exchange with Cuban Ambassador Sergio González, Governor Hilbck underscored the high prestige the Cuban health system enjoys internationally, and praised Cuba's health cooperation and assistance to other peoples and nations in need the world over.
The mayor of the Peruvian city of Catacaos -- the hardest hit by heavy downpours over the past several weeks -- thanked Cuba and the country's health professionals for their assistance.
Rolando Piloto, head of the Cuban health mission in Peru, said that the team, made of 23 doctors, nurses and other health professionals, is treating over 500 patients on average everyday, while also promoting health and prevention.
