Paris, December 18 (RHC)--The second session of the Franco-Cuban Economic and Trade Commission takes place this Monday in this capital to assess the fulfillment of the goals outlined for bilateral relations in this field, diplomatic sources reported.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca is heading the Cuban delegation in Paris, while the French delegation is led by Secretary of State, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne.

Cuba and France signed a bilateral economic agenda in February 2016 to strengthen economic cooperation and promote business exchanges.

The Caribbean island and the European nation have experienced a boost in bilateral relations in recent years with important events such as the visits to Havana by then French president François Hollande  in 2015, and of president Raúl Castro to Paris in 2016.

Another relevant moment was the opening in the Cuban capital of a headquarters of the French Agency for Development, in order to continue strengthening ties in sectors such as trade and investment.

France and Cuba have signed an agreement whereby the European nation will upgrade airports on the island, especially in Havana.
