Cuba and Belize conclude first round of migratory talks

Havana, August 30 (RHC)-- The 1st Round of Cuba-Belize Migratory Talks concluded Wednesday in Havana after two days of negotiations headed by Ambassador Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, Director of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad of the Cuban Foreign Ministry and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belize Patrick Andrews.

According to the website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry (MINREX), during the working sessions the two delegations evaluated the behavior of the migratory flows between the two nations.

Both sides confirmed the importance of these type of meetings to strengthen bilateral relations and reaffirmed both governments'  commitment to implementing joint actions to increase bilateral cooperation on migratory issues.

Negotiations began on a new memorandum of understanding that seeks to promote regular, orderly and safe migration, as well as combating human trafficking and other related crimes.
