Geneva, September 13 (RHC)-- Cuba has reaffirmed its commitment to South-South cooperation this August 13, at the United Nations in Geneva.

The island's representative, Pedro Luis Pedroso, noted that relations must continue to be based on “principles of respect for national sovereignty, independence, equality, non-interference, and mutual benefit.”  He underscored the positive effect of South-South cooperation on strengthening social, economic and cultural ties across the region, through the sharing of successful experiences and solutions to common problems.

According to Pedroso, some 186 countries across Latin America, Africa and Asia, have benefited from Cuban collaboration over recent decades, in Spheres such as health care and education.

Finally, the Cuban diplomat confirmed the country's commitment to solidarity despite the difficulties it faces as a developing nation, with limited resources and financial constraints, aggravated by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
