Havana, November 12 (RHC)-- The popular consultation on the draft of a new Constitution for Cuba has entered its last week of discussions, to be submitted in its final version to an approval referendum at the beginning of next year.

Several provinces, such as Ciego de Ávila and Sancti Spíritus, have already reported the closure of a process that began on August 13th, with more than 110,000 meetings held in neighborhoods, work places and schools, with a participation of more than seven million three hundred thousand people.

The most controversial issues during the constitutional debates have been those related to changes in the structure of the State and in marriage, the recognition of private property, the expansion of rights, and the strengthening of popular power at the grassroots level.
