Havana, March 27 (RHC) Topics related to national experiences in food sufficiency was at the center of interest of a group of Mexican experts visiting Cuba at the invitation of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO.

During their stay on the island the visitors met with executives of the ministries of Agriculture and Food Industries.

Theodore Friedrich, permanent representative of the FAO to Havana, said that the Mexicans will also learn more about the experiences of the Cuban urban agriculture program, a project similar to the family agriculture program organized by the UN.

He pointed out that the visitors will get details on how agricultural production is organized in Cuba to draw conclusions that may be implemented in Mexico, such as biological pest control and the organic crop management.

The Mexicans will also tour universities and scientific institutions, as well as production units in which they can learn about what the Cuban State is doing to guarantee food sufficiency for the population.
