Havana, June 6 (RHC)-- UNESCO’s Director-General, Audrey Azoulay welcomed the historian of Havana, Eusebio Leal, on the occasion of his visit to Paris as part of the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the Cuban capital.
During the friendly meeting, culture and heritage centered the dialogue, and Leal described the work of restoration of the historic center of Havana, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.
The historian thanked the moral and civic support of organization to Cuba’s efforts in the field of the protection and conservation of the national heritage.
He mentioned projects undertaken such as the restoration of the Segundo Cabo Palace and the construction of the Adolescent Center, a facility he described as 'an art, film, radio and television factory', which feeds the spirit and culture of younger generations.
The prestigious intellectual reiterated to the general director the invitation to visit Cuba, conveyed to her by President Miguel Díaz-Canel in 2918.
For her part, Audrey Azoulay, thanked the invitation and reaffirmed that she will be in Havana before the end of the year.
