New York, June 21 (RHC)--The Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization-Pastors for Peace is concluding this Friday a tour dedicated to address the Cuban reality in dozens of US cities, before embarking on its traditional solidarity caravan to the Island.

The organization, which is conducting its 30th convoy this year, began its journey through US locations on June 8 in New York, and since then they have visited some 40 cities across the country, with five routes. The tour will close with events in San Pedro, California, and Houston, Texas, Prensa Latina reports.

During this journey, caravan members have ratified their rejection of the economic blockade imposed by Washington on Cuba for almost 60 years ago, and reaffirmed their opposition to travel restrictions that prevent Americans from visiting the neighboring island freely.

Gail Walker, Executive Director of Pastors for Peace, told Prensa Latina that these caravans provide a great opportunity to spread the reality on Cuba to new audiences, “because in the US there are people who do not know much about Cuba and they like this kind of events.”

“The purpose of the Caravan is to educate people, tell them about the history of the project, and also to explain why we continue with the initiative after 30 years," she said.

Walker explained that after the end of the tour this Friday, they will travel to Mexico for three days of orientation with their companions in the neighboring country, and from there the caravan members  will arrive in Cuba on June 25, where they will be staying through July 5.
