Havana, August 28 (RHC)—Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel toured several places of educational, cultural and recreational interest in Havana , accompanied by ministers, and the city’s top Party and Government authorities.

The first stop was at "Jorge Arturo Vilaboy Viñas" Secondary School, located in Old Havana. The school was fully restored and with an enrollment of 360 students, it will open its doors next Monday.

The Cuban leader also toured facilities being restored within the context of the 500th anniversary of Havana, to be celebrated in November.

One of them was the popular Chinatown, located in the municipality of Centro Habana. He exchanged with workers and praised the quality of the restoration of several of the district’s areas.

Afterwards, the president visited theTechnological Palace, located in a estate known as  Finca de Los Monos, in the Cerro neighborhood, where he was briefed about the full restoration of the facility.  Díaz-Canel insisted on the need to promote the use of technology and the application of knowledge, especially in children.

As part of his tour the Cuban president also visited the “Vladimir Ilich Lenin” Pre-university Vocational Institute of Exact Sciences. This center will begin the new school year on Monday with an enrollment of 1042 students.

The tour concluded at the National Botanical Garden, where the president attended the reopening of the only Japanese Garden in the country, inaugurated in 1989 by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro. After a long and complex investment process, this site recovered its splendor for the enjoyment of the people.

Díaz-Canel took advantage of his visit to the National Botanical Garden to tour the recently concluded Scientific Teaching Center, which has the most modern equipment for the development of botany in the country.
