Havana, November 1 (RHC)-- The Assembly of Studies of the Council of Churches of Cuba (CIC), held at the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Matanzas city, issued  a statement against the US blockade, where it says that the Cuban family is one of its main victims.

"We are saddened today to see how our people, our families and our congregations are affected by the measures that tighten the economic, commercial and financial blockade illegally imposed on our country," the statement reads.

Antonio Santana Hernandez, CIC president, elaborated on the declaration and described the hostile U.S. policy against Cuba as an "aberration," stating that it provokes an almost unanimous rejection by the international community.

"We thank God, the churches and all Americans who struggle every day and show their solidarity with our Homeland; at the same time we recognize that the American people are deprived of their rights and freedom by denying them an open and enriching relationship in all spheres," the statement added.

The CIC made a call for peace to the international community, churches, ecumenical movement and counterparts in the United States to accompany the Cuban people in order to push for an end to the blockade.
