Solemn event in Havana marks the 90th anniversary of Vietnam´s Communist Party

Havana, February 6th (RHC)--A solemn event was held in Havana on Wednesday to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, José Ramón Machado Ventura, and the member of the political bureau of the Vietnamese party organization, Truong Thi Mai, presided over the ceremony.

Olga Lidia Tapia, a member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba, delivered the keynote speech.

She said that global imperialism seeks to erase the historical memory and break the cultural identity of the peoples; however, it underestimates the ability of the masses to defend their roots.

She recalled the figure of Ho Chi Minh, who knew how to give content to the revolutionary process under the ideas of Marx and Engels.

Tapia also highlighted the friendship ties Cuba and Vietnam share and thanked the Asian country for its condemnation of US the blockade on the island.

The Vietnamese representative, for her part, stressed that although they are geographically distant, Cuba and Vietnam are united by their feelings of independence and solidarity.
