Caribbean Ambassadors meet President of the National Assembly of People's Power

Havana, February 15 (RHC)-- Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power, held a meeting on Friday with the ambassadors of Caribbean nations in Cuba to discuss the Constitution of the Republic and the legislative schedule to guarantee its implementation.

The Cuban Parliament website said that upon receiving them in the Baragua Room of the Havana Capitol, Lazo Hernández thanked the Caribbean diplomats for their interest in the Cuban political system and assured them that Cuba is working to strictly comply with the Magna Carta.

During the encounter, José Luis Toledo Santander, chair of the Parliament's Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, explained to the visitors a summary of the content of the Law of Laws and assured that for the Cuban state¨preserving unity is fundamental to preserve independence and sovereignty.

The relationship of the National Assembly with the governors and the functions of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister were among the issues discussed by the Esteban Lazo Hernández, answering questions the ambassadors asked.

Yolanda Ferrer Gómez, chair of the International Relations Committee, thanked the Caribbean countries for their support in the struggle of the Cuban people against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government for almost 60 years.
