Havana, March 5 (RHC)-- Defending the rights of hearing-impaired people to a healthier life where Cuban Sign Language is the main language, is one of the elements that centered the debates of the V Congress of the National Association of the Deaf (ANSOC), which concluded on Wednesday.
In the event's Final Declaration, delegates expressed their unconditional support for the economic and social policy implemented by the Government and the Cuban Communist Party.
Likewise, they condemned the policy of the United States, its attempt to attack sister countries in Latin America and the world, together with its allies, against the feeling of the international community.
Cuba pays special attention to the community of deaf people to achieve inclusive participation in social life.
According to debates during the event, currently, 7,952 of ANSOC members are incorporated into jobs of various kinds: in ordinary centers, special workshops, self-employment, and in agricultural cooperatives, among others.
Among the topics on the agenda of the congress were the impact of the leaders' work, attention to women and deaf girls, and others related to sign language to achieve greater inclusion in society.
Article 89 of the recently approved Constitution establishes the protection of people with disabilities on the island.
