Havana, March 22 (RHC)-- The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, for a total of 25 in the country.
According to a press release, 23 cases remain in the country, of which two are in critical and one serious condition.. The rest of the patients show a stable clinical evolution.
During a follow-up meeting on the coronavirus held Saturday afternoon with the presence of President Miguel Díaz-Canel, the Minister of Public Health José Angel Portal Miranda explained that 29,533 people are under epidemiological surveillance in the island's primary health care system, and 833 patients have been admitted in hospitals, 193 of them are foreigners and 640 are Cubans.
As of March 20, 242,488 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in 157 countries, with 9,885 deaths and lethality of 4.08%. The World Health Organization reports 92 countries with the transmission.
In the region of the Americas, 31 countries and ten overseas territories are affected. There have been 23,783 confirmed cases and 307 deaths.
Diaz-Canel insisted that the confrontation in the country of COVID-19 is a task for everyone, not just for health workers.
On Saturday night, a Cuban medical brigade made up of 52 doctors and nurses left for Italy to help contain the new coronavirus in Lombardy, in the northern part of the country.
